With this aperture size, you’ll be able to see everything from the moon and planets to deep sky objects like nebulae and galaxies.

The fully coated lens ensures that you get the best possible image quality, and the Plossl eyepiece provides a comfortable viewing experience. The Altazimuth mount makes it easy to track objects as they move across the sky, and the manual focus allows for precise adjustments.

Overall, the 150mm aperture power of the Sky Watcher Virtuoso GTI 150P is a standout feature that makes this telescope a great choice for both beginners and experienced stargazers.

Fast f/5 Optics

When it comes to the Sky Watcher Virtuoso GTI 150P Collapsible Tabletop GoTo Dobsonian Telescope, one of its standout features is its fast f/5 optics. This means that the telescope’s focal length is five times its aperture, allowing for a wider field of view and brighter images.

With this feature, we were able to easily locate and track celestial objects with ease. The fully coated lens also provided clear and crisp images, making it a joy to use for both beginners and experienced stargazers alike.

However, it’s worth noting that while the fast f/5 optics are impressive, they may not be suitable for those looking to observe more distant or faint objects. In those cases, a telescope with a longer focal length may be more appropriate.

2 responses to “Sky Watcher Virtuoso GTI 150P Telescope Review: Is It Worth the Investment?”

  1. I have an Orion Skyquest XT 6 Plus and while happy with the aperture and viewing capability, it’s of course manual tracking and I’m not satisfied with that. So from your review it appears that I would be trading my current 1200 mm focal length with the GTIs 750mm but possibly a better focal ratio as my unit has a f/8.0 compared to the GTI s f/5.0 and Goto tracking .

Based on your current situation with the Orion SkyQuest XT6 Plus, switching to the Sky Watcher Virtuoso GTI 150P could indeed offer you some noteworthy advantages, particularly in terms of tracking and ease of use. Here’s a breakdown to help you weigh the pros and cons:

      Focal Length and Focal Ratio:

      – Your current telescope (Orion SkyQuest XT6 Plus) has a longer focal length of 1200mm, which provides higher magnification and a narrower field of view. This is particularly beneficial for detailed views of planets and the moon.
      – The Sky Watcher GTI 150P, on the other hand, has a shorter focal length of 750mm and a faster focal ratio of f/5. This configuration offers a wider field of view and brighter images, which is great for viewing deep-sky objects like galaxies and nebulae.

      GoTo Tracking:

      – Manual Tracking: Your current dissatisfaction with the manual tracking of the Orion might be significantly alleviated by the GoTo capabilities of the Sky Watcher. The GoTo system not only automates tracking but also simplifies finding celestial objects, which is a huge plus if you often observe different or multiple objects during a session.
      – Built-in Features: The Wi-Fi capability and the integration with the SynScan Pro app in the Sky Watcher GTI 150P enhance user-friendliness, allowing for remote control and more interactive stargazing sessions.

      Portability and Setup:

      – The Sky Watcher GTI 150P also stands out in terms of portability with its collapsible design. This might be a significant advantage if you often relocate your telescope or stargaze from different locations.

So it seems, while you will be trading off some focal length for a shorter one with a faster focal ratio, the added benefits of automated GoTo tracking and increased portability might make the Sky Watcher Virtuoso GTI 150P a worthy upgrade for you, especially if you value convenience and are interested in a broader variety of celestial observations.
